Activity:

• Abhilash Khandekar is a multilingual journalist with a standing of close to 35 years in print and electronic medium. He writes in Hindi, English and Marathi and has worked with India's top newspaper groups such as Free Press Journal, Hindustan Times, DNA and Dainik Bhaskar, among others.

Educational Qualification:

• Born in Mumbai, Mr Khandekar did his graduation and post graduation from Indore's Devi Ahilya University. His holds two Masters degrees in Commerce (M.Com) and Political Science (MA). Khandekar began his journalistic career with FPJ group, Mumbai as a sports journalist in 1983 and then after a decade, switched over to political journalism joining the Hindustan Times at Bhopal as undivided Madhya Pradesh's Bureau Chief for the national daily which he served for close to 11 years.
• He shifted to Hindi journalism in 2006 and became Editor of Dainik Bhaskar, India's leading newspaper chain at Bhopal. He served the group close to 12 years and was its Editorial head for MP and later in Maharashtra where he launched seven Marathi editions. He was  the group's National Political Editor at Delhi until March 2017.

Other Information:

• He has travelled far and wide and has covered international summits such as G-20, SAARC, Rio Earth Summit in 2012 in Brazil. He has been to Australia, New Zealand, US, UK, Germany, Hong Kong, South Africa, Mexico, China and Czech Republic, among other countries, on professional assignments. He had accompanied former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on some of the important international summits.
• Khandekar founded The Nature Volunteers (TNV), a registered non-profit organisation at Indore in 1992 to help save a bird habitat and a lake. TNV is a leading environment NGO of Central India. He is chairman of Basketball Trust at Indore.

Hobbies:

• Abhilash Khandekar has written several books in English, Hindi and Marathi. His areas of interest include sports, arts, music, politics and environment. He currently hosts a weekly popular environment serial on the prestigious Lok Sabha TV by the name Astitva, in Hindi.
